Aisa Tour Cancelled Due To SARS

Unfortunately David has had to withdraw from his Aisa tour dates due to the increased spread of the SARS virus. Here is the official press release

It is with regret that due to the increasing spread and development of the SARS virus, the artist, management and organisers have taken the decision to cancel the forthcoming David Gray shows in Hong Kong and Singapore.

It was David's strong desire to fulfill the dates despite the very difficult situation , if at all prudent to do so. Unfortunately with more news and information available, the decision has been made to cancel the two shows.

Refunds will be made available from the SISTIC Box office . Patrons who have paid by credit card will need to tender tickets at the box office also.

We thank everyone for their understanding and hope to secure a rescheduled date when the time is right to do so.

Be Mine tracklisting confirmed!

The new Be Mine single will feature the never before heard song "Lover Boy" and a live version of the wonderful song "Falling Down The Mountainside"

Many tip this single, the second to be released from David's 6th album, to perform better than "The Other Side".

The single will be released on the 7th April in the UK and the 4th April in Ireland.

New Be Mine Video Finished

The new Be Mine video has just been recorded between the 6th/3/03 and the 8th/3/03 at Regents Canal, Mile Park, London with David making a personal appearance on the 8th.

It appears the basis of the video, which has a fifties theme, is that David wobbles his head so much it falls off and is picked up by a dog and kicked around by footballers.

The Be Mine single will be released on the 7th April in the UK.

Be Mine To Be Next UK Single

David is to release Be Mine as the new UK single. The follow-up to The Other Side, released on the 7th April in the UK, is widely reckoned to perform better in the charts with many tipping it for a spot in the top 10.

Be Mine is the most radio friendly song on "A New Day At Midnight" and is ideal for a single so close to Valentines day. The single version is cut in that there are only two verses instead of the usual three on the album.

David Nominated For A Brit Award

David has been nominated for a Brit in the category "Best Solo Male Artist" he is up against some stiff competition

  1. Badly Drawn Boy
  2. Robbie Williams
  3. The Streets
  4. Craig David
I would say David's chances are fair but with Robbie in there i'm sure he won't be the favourite.

The Other Side Out Today

The first single of David's new album is The Other Side is now released in the UK.

Fans will be waiting with baited breath to see the debut chart position of the single, although most are not too optimistic. I predict a position of around the low 20's based on the later singles from White Ladder. Lets hope i am proved wrong but i really can't see it.

Dave Matthews looks likely to support David on his upcoming tour

South African born Dave Matthews looks the most likely candidate to support David on his Autumn/Winter UK tour. Fans are in for a treat if this does take place as Matthews will be with his four piece band consisting of Drums, Bass, Violin and Sax.

David is linked to Matthews in that he is signed to his record label in the States, Matthews helped promote the album and launch David's American career.

"David is one of my absolute favourite artists-beautiful in the purest and most honest way. Anything I can do to turn more listeners on to his music, I will," - Dave Matthews

The Pink Flamingo Lounge gets a mention in the new biography

An excerpt from the book reads:-

"As well as television, the internet was spreading the word about David Gray - and a proliferation of sites would sprout like mushrooms in the post-White Ladder period. Millennium hangovers had only just begun to subside when, in January 2000, the doors of the Pink Flamingo Lounge opened for business. One of the most professionally styled and run Gray websites, it attracted 500 hits in its first week on-line"
Thank you Mr Heatley for your kind words =)

David Loses out to Alicia at the Grammys

Alicia Keys, along with U2, blitzed the Grammys picking up 9 awards between themselves. David didn't stand a chance really! Maybe it was the fact that he is not a "New Artist".

Bob Dylan is looking decidedly "middle aged" to put it nicely. Fans managed to make out three words of "Love & Theft" amidst incoherent mumbling, but hey, he can get away with it because he's BoB. Interestingly he's on tour soon, appearing just up the road from our good selves and the tickets still haven't sold out. Strange really seen as he won't be around for much longer.

"David Gray, A Biography". Available now at Amazon

A new biography titled "David Gray, A Biography" [see right] was released to intrepid fans on February 11th. The 216 page paperback, authored by Michael Heatley, the same man behind the book "Neil Young: in His Own Words" will tell the life story of the man many have come to love.

The book's release was a date to remember for fans, as David likes to keep himself to himself and is `not really bothered about the stigma attached to celebrity stardom`. Although it does make you wonder about the royalties he will received and whether he contributed or proofed the final copy before it went to print.

The book can be pre-ordered from Amazon with an amazing 20% off the RRP

David is up against the likes of India.Arie and Alicia Keys it looks like a tough bunch to contest but if there is any justice in the world he will walk home with the award

Babylon takes position 36

Over the festive season, Century 105.4 FM in the North West of England have been taking votes over telephone and e-mail for peoples top 3 singles of all time.

Babylon came in at number 36 beating the likes of Oasis and Bryan Adams for the top spot.

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye goes straight into the UK charts at number 26

The new single, released on the 17th Dec entered the Christmas charts on the 23rd Dec at position 26, slipped to 29 a week later and on the 7th Jan dropped even further to 40th.

Funnily enough as I recall, this is the same position that Sail Away entered the charts after it's first week and then slipped out of the top 40 the week after.

Some people praise the fact that David hasn't broke into the top 10 since Babylon because all the charts represent is popularity which could explain why he was behind the likes of the Tweenies and Afroman. Voice your opinions on this matter at the Messageboard.
